We’re thrilled and deeply honored to share that Celebration by Rupa Vira was recently featured in The Washington Post by acclaimed food critic Tom Sietsema in his article, “The 8 Best Indian Restaurants in and Around D.C.” Being recognized by one of the top publications and a revered critic is a significant milestone for our team and a testament to our commitment to delivering authentic and innovative Indian cuisine.
In this distinguished list, we find ourselves alongside iconic establishments such as Rasika and Bombay Club, which have been staples in the Washington D.C. dining scene for years. This recognition not only highlights our culinary offerings but celebrates the vibrant flavors, creativity, and artistry that Celebration by Rupa Vira brings to Indian cuisine.
Tom Sietsema’s words bring to life the essence of Celebration: “The name rings true. The details amount to a party at the younger of two restaurants watched over by lead chef Rupa Vira and her son and co-owner, Priyank.” His review dives into the memorable dining experience, from our playful presentation of pani puri served with dry ice for a touch of dramatic flair to the mural-filled dining room adorned in hues of purple, where colorful visuals of Indian culture set the tone for an immersive experience.
In the article, Sietsema shines a spotlight on some of our standout dishes, such as the “mango mirage,” our reimagined pani puri with mango essence, and the butternut squash kofta, a dish adorned with goji berries and flowers for a vibrant finish. Each plate is crafted with passion and attention to detail, designed to transport our guests through a journey of flavors and textures.
Sietsema’s review also hints at exciting new ventures: Celebration will soon launch a chef’s table and tasting menu, a culinary journey beginning with flavors inspired by Bombay street food. These new offerings will allow us to further explore India’s diverse gastronomic landscape, inviting our guests on a fresh, immersive experience with each visit.
We are grateful to Tom Sietsema and The Washington Post for this incredible honor. To all our patrons, thank you for your continued support – we look forward to welcoming you again soon, where every visit is a celebration.
