NAVRATRI VRAT THALI

For nine nights each autumn, families across India honor Goddess Durga by fasting — setting aside grains, onion and garlic, and eating simply and purely. What grew out of those rules is some of India's most inventive vegetarian cooking: crisp sabudana vadas, nutty buckwheat rotis, koftas bound with water-chestnut flour.

This Navratri, Chef Rupa Vira brings the vrat thali she grew up with in Mumbai to Celebration — prepared to traditional fasting standards, plated with the modern touch Celebration is known for. Whether you're observing the fast or simply curious, come taste the festival.

Nine nights. One thali.

A tradition made with devotion.

You're in for a treat. Navratri is a nine-night Indian festival of dance, devotion and food. Many families eat a special diet during it, without wheat, rice, onion or garlic — so cooks invented dishes you won't find on any regular Indian menu. Think crispy tapioca fritters, buckwheat flatbread and creamy cashew koftas. It's served for just 10 days a year, naturally vegetarian and gluten-friendly, and our team will walk you through every item on your plate.

Missing Navratri at Home?

Sabudana vada hot off the kadhai, kuttu roti like Ba used to roll — this is the thali that tastes like the festival you grew up with, made to strict vrat rules so you can simply sit down and enjoy it.
